Xasapiko or Xasapikos: A journey from Minor Asia to Greece.

Hasapiko or Hasapikos is a dance and type of song of the Greeks from Asia Minor, Macedonia and Constantinople.

The Greek name of the dance, in the Byzantine period, was makelarikos.

It is a slow dance, danced in many regions of Greece, with dynamic movements and imposing presence. Its rhythm is usually steady, and the dancers form a circle or line during the dance.

It is performed at many events and celebrations in Greece and is an important part of the country’s culture.
