V.Waltz: ”A Fairytale Dance”

The Viennese Waltz is the fastest version of the well-known Waltz.

It is the oldest of the ballroom dances and comes from folk German dances. It was a symbol of popular sentiment and was associated with the political ideas of the time.

It was the first dance where the cavalier’s hands hugged the dame waist.

In England at that time, dance was considered revolutionary as women and men rarely came into contact with each other. The waltz required physical and visual contact between men and women in public places.

Despite the attacks it received, the Viennese Waltz was finally accepted throughout Europe in the 19th century gaining great popularity and today is considered one of the most difficult soft dances that requires impeccable style and stately air.

Graceful turns are a characteristic figure. The Viennese waltz is known for these simple and elegant turns.
