IMPORTANT TIPS FOR A PROSPECTIVE DANCE TEACHER

What should a prospective trainee dance teacher do?

It is important to mention that a prospective dance teacher is not much different from a simple dance student or an avid dancer. The biggest difference is that the dance teacher will devote much more time to his training and will have to train daily.

So what is important for someone who wants to become a dance teacher or teacher?

  1. In each lesson he should carry a notebook and take notes of everything he hears or sees
  2. When each lesson ends, he must read these notes and repeat the male and female steps he was taught, with music and without music. By the time of his next lesson, he should have practiced and re-read his notes from the previous lesson.
  3. It is necessary to analyze the technique of each dance step. The method of dancing from teacher to teacher differs. This means that each dance teacher finds different ways of transmitting knowledge and information to his students which has to do with the personality, character and temperament of the teacher. What can help a prospective dance teacher immensely is the research he does on his own through the internet, videos or dance books. These will help him find the most convenient and practical way to transmit information.
  4. It will help a lot to find a partner to practice the steps you are learning. By training him you will do very useful practice that will benefit you in the future but will also make the other person have a good time since he will learn without paying.

So if a prospective dance teacher applies all these “tips” there is only one question left to answer.

How long will it take for someone to become a dance teacher and work in a dance school?

The answer to this question is not specific. Certainly, passing your professional exams and obtaining dance diplomas will make it much easier to find a job but, as in any other profession, no one can promise you absolute success.

There are cases of dance teachers who without much knowledge and without much experience managed to find a job immediately and cases of teachers who with a lot of knowledge and many years of experience in the profession still struggle trying to find a satisfactory job.

At The Dance Club, however, you don’t have to worry about it because within the professional dance program we offer you there is 100% absorption by our network of schools. That is, during your professional program you can enter as an assistant in group classes of beginners and do your internship, work in a secretarial position of your school or in a sales position in order to practice the profession and be able to become a dance teacher or open your own dance school in the future.

If we limit ourselves to how long it will take to be qualified to successfully seek a teacher job, the answer is about two to three years. But surely afterwards, as in all professions, luck and a lot of patience are needed.
